Rachadumnoen Thai Boxing Stadium

Rachadumnoen Boxing Stadium is considered as the first boxing stadium to reach the international standard. It is popularly accepted as one of the places with ideal location and magnificent architecture in the world. A large number of Thai and international boxers, such as PohnKingpetch, ChatchaiChiewnoi, Venice BKS, PayaoPoontaratana, Kaosai Galaxy, Ratanapon S. Vorapin, Chana P. Paoindr, have participated in the fights here.
The stadium was built on the General Pibul’s order in 1941. The order had followed the government’s enforcement of expropriation and had been notified to house owners along Rachadumnoen Road in order that the government had the right to construct any buildings according to the city plan. At the time, the Crown Property Bureau was assigned to be in charge of the project. The authority also assigned Impressi Italian All Hestero Oriental Company to be responsible for constructing the stadium but the project had to stop during the World War II due to the shortage of construction materials. Later in 1944, PramotePuengsoonthorn proposed the project to the commander and the plan was later approved. Then in 1951, the project was finally carried out.
At present, the stadium has been enlarged and its infrastructure has been consecutively improved and developed, for example, the installation of air conditioners is completed in order to facilitate spectators. Finally, the stadium is worldwide recognized and has been a pride for Thailand.
If you are interested, the stadium is located on RachadumnoenNok Road, Pomprapsatrupai District in Bangkok. Boxing fights are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sundays from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The stadium is closed on important religious days. The admission fee Thais is 200, 400 and 1,000 baht for Thais and 500, 800, and 1,500 baht for foreigners.  For more information, please call 02-281-4205,02-281-0879,02-2280-1684.
