Ban Laem Thai-Cambodian Border Market

Ban Laem Thai-Cambodian Border Market is located at Ban Laem, Moo 4, Thep Nimit Sub-district, 46 kilometers away from Pong Nam Ron District Office. Located at the border, the market mainly sells consumer goods. Making wooden furniture for sale is promoted as an occupation to local people. Ban Laem Market was established to be a trading center where people of the two countries exchange goods and travel in and out to shop conveniently and safely. 

The market covers a large area and is filled with people all day long. It is a bilingual market as there are both Thai and Cambodian merchants selling various goods. The market is famous for its discount goods including fresh food, fruits, processed foods, clothing, accessories, perfumes, utensils and etc. In each day, there are tourists visiting the market to buy souvenirs and strange products at cheap price such as cigarettes, mobile phones and etc.

Nowadays, Ban Laem Thai-Cambodian Border Market is located right at Liem, Kamrieng District, Battambang Province of Cambodia (86 kilometers away from Battambang town) It was opened as a permanent crossing point between Thailand and Cambodia allowing people and vehicles to cross the border with the approval from the Immigration Bureau officers. Foreign tourists have to have their passports stamped at this checkpoint. Many public vans stop at the border such as ones from Pattaya, Sattahip, Rayong, Ban Phe and Chantaburi.
